Drivers Beware: Wilson Parking’s Excessive Fines
I’ll admit it. I did exceed the amount of time I purchased to park my car at a Wilson Parking lot. Guilty as charged. The challenge (notice the postive framing of my venting here
) I have with this fine is it’s excessive nature. $65 for being 15 minutes late to my car.
Given that a full night at this car park (29 Customs Street West, Auckland City) is $15, a $20 fine would have been sufficient. Wilson Parking state that due to the “enforcement admission costs” of serving this notice, that $65 must be paid. Now, I have already paid the fine. I have no problems with paying “a” fine. But $65 is excessive. It does not cost $65 for a maximum $20/hour worker to take three minutes to fill out this form a place it under your windscreen wiper.
Given that I know a little about SEO, this post will no doubt rank highly for ‘Wilson Parking’ in the near future. If Wilson Parking want this post removed, you can refund my fine and I’ll remove it.
